Hi John:
Since parsnips are on the big-shouldered side, I'd use 9 plants per
square to be on the safe side. (I'm assuming that the preservation of
domestic harmony requires not just parsnips, but big, honkin'
parsnips!) I've personally never understood why Mel spaces both beets
and carrots at 16 per square -- I like beets to be fairly large, and
so grow them at 9 per square. Carrots do fine at 16, but I don't like
them terribly large. A lot of this is personal preference -- your
mileage may vary, of course. Hope this helps and that peace and
tranquility reign in the Rushforth household!
