Hello,

I would suggest planting around the outside of the bed a plant called
citronella. To humans, it has a pleasant lemony smell but cats and dogs
can't stand it. If you have other pests like rabbits or ground hogs or
prairie dogs, marigolds do the same. the citronella has the added function
of being a very nice mosquito repellent too. If this isn't feasable or
doesn't work, you might try cayanne pepper; this will have to be reapplied
every time it rains or you water and I am unsure of the effects on a garden,
never having used it outside.
