Hi CB, you wrote: >1. We are primarily interested in growing tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, >and beans. Any suggestions on "types" of these vegtables? I'd suggest a couple varieties of tomatoes - a paste or Roma type, and a good all around eating, as well as maybe a large tomato variety. I'd also suggest you plant several different types of corn - an early harvest and a late corn, the sweet whites I like best for eating. I grew a slicing cucumber that resembled a large pickling cuke, and I know I could have pickled them, but they were delicious just to eat or in salads, and I didn't have to peel them either (though some folk think the only cuke you don't have to peel is an English one!). I'd recommend a slicer to start with, unless your family loves pickles! Beans, well, I'm just beginning to learn about them. I haven't tried to shell and dry any of the pinto type. Most people would probably say plant a few bush and a few pole. Just my 2 cents. Shawn swestaway@smtplink.coh.org Claremont, Ca USDA9b Sunset19
