Hi all! Some years ago, I planted tomatoes in a very weedy rented garden patch. I used black plastic garbage bags, folded them several times, and made holes with an ordinary office type hole punch. This let enough water through for the plants, and kept most of the weeds down, although a few did find a hole and grow up through it - they were easy to spot and pull. The biggest problem I had, although the plants didn't seem to care, was compaction of the heavy clay soil. I got an enormous crop of tomatoes. Lee Neufeld Rosenort, Manitoba Zone 3
