Read the instructions ALL the way thru FIRST as it sounds harder than it
really is.
You will need:
1 bag Portland Cement
1 bag course sand
Peat moss or vermiculite
water
something to mix it in ( wheelbarrow)
chicken wire or welders cloth for reinforcement(like rebar in cement)
cardboard boxes or flat cardboard or two containers the smaller being 2
inches smaller on ALL sides( except height)
stick or dowel for eliminating air pockets.
(1) Mix ONE PART CEMENT, ONE PART SAND and TWO PARTS PEAT MOSS ( or
vermiculite) in wheelbarrow untill well blended
(2) ADD WATER slowly to make a stiff mixture that JUST holds together in
your hands.
(3) CUT CHICKEN WIRE to fit innerbox. Form it around outsides of inner
(smaller) box to act as reinforcement.
(4) Trowel or pour 2-3 inches of mix into BOTTOM of LARGER box
(5) Place wire covered inner (smaller) box into larger box(on top of mix in
bottom)
(6) Trowel or pour mix into sides between larger and smaller box. Use dowel
or stick to pack mix in and to eliminate air pockets
(7) Place in area that gets no rain to cure
(8) After two weeks pull away inner cardboard box to check if mix is hard.
Gently fold box to lift out slowly to avoid damaging sides. Allow to continue
to cure(actual curing time depends on weather and time of year.. usually 2
more weeks
(9) Once fully cured remove OUTERbox. Use a spray mister and putty knife to
remove stoubborn pieces.
(10) prior to planting SLOWLY DRILL drain holes into bottom using masonry
bit and drill.
