Re: ((In)) Determinate Tomato Spacing

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Friends,
Mary I am sorry I have not tried determinate before.

I too have a question regarding tomatoes. Does anyone here find any advantage to changing the spacing on indeterminate tomatoes? Is the one square foot enough for larger tomato plants? What do you think?
Have a great day,
bill missen

| I am trying determinate (Roma paste-type) tomatoes for the first time in
| my sqft garden.  My best guess (with only a couple years' experience) is
| to plant them in rows 1 foot apart, and staggered at 2-ft.
| intervals...like this.
|
|      X          X          X          X          X          X
|
| Before I commit myself, does anyone have any arguments *against* this
| spacing and/or suggestions that might work better?  I have very limited
| sunny space in my garden and am having to crowd my warm-weather crops in
| order to make sure they get enough sunlight.  Thank you,
|
