I didn't see in Mel's book where he suggests using aquarium charcoal. What
page is it on? I'd like to reread it.

finished (wouldn't you know) I found a bag of horticultural charcoal at, of
all places, my local Ace hardware store stuck on the shelf with the potting
soil and vermiculite. So keep looking, it is out there!
