Re: Sunflowers

In spite of my requests NOT to plant sunflowers in the square foot beds at
our school, the kids snuck those Russion Mammoth seeds into their squares
anyway!  I thought sunflowers "belonged" in the 3 sisters garden, just like
in the book.  Well, I was wrong.  They looked great - sunny, cheerful, and
enormous, and it was okay!  THey were sort of like sunflower flagpoles!
THis year we got "Solar Baby" sunflowers from Parks and they seem to bloom
when only about 1 foot tall.  Solar Baby may be the way to go if you want
small scale sunflowers, but I bet those 6 footers will be great!
