You can create raised beds by "hilling" the soil and forming the bed. I do
it this way because I like it. : )
As a new gardener, it could save you money.

I've noticed listings on amazon.com for used copies of Mel's book.  If
you're not an internet shopper maybe there is a used bookstore in your area.
