If you were planning to use the peat to improve the water-retention
qualities of your garden soil OR to acidify it (lower its pH), then send
him back.
If, OTOH, you were hoping the amendment would improve the overall quality
of your soil for growing plants, DH made a "good mistake" and you're better
off with the humus.
