Well ... in the past, after watering in the big garden, the soil would be rock
hard. We added peat to make it "fluffier". Perhaps the correct term is
"friable"? I wanted to make more of my soil "fluffier" in other beds as well. I
was going to mix it with top soil & manure/compost. If I do this, will my soil
still be fluffy, I mean, friable?

Can I use humus as a mulch?  Or should I stick with the manure/compost? I need
to get something around my raspberries, fast!
