What I have experienced with this menace over the
past several years is that the underground root is like a rope. Any part
of this will regenerate a vine. I think that your idea for limiting
Roundup by shielding the other plants is a great one and one I'll use in the
fall. Meanwhile, I'll pull and pull and the bindweed gets smaller and
smaller as their food source is disturbed. Just make sure that you don't
try to compost any part of this plant, because you'll just introduce it to a
nice, fresh growing area!
