Hi Leslie,
I'm sure your plants will survive but they probably won't produce as proficiently as they would have if you waited. My Uncle, who had a huge garden in Lynnfield, never put his out until June 1st.
Another little trick with peppers, clip the flowers until July 4th so that the plants will put their energy into the root system and then after July 4th let them flower.
