I built 3 4x4 beds each 12 inches deep this year. To fill each of
them I first spread one large bale (3.8 cu. ft.) of sphagnum peat moss
and wet it down pretty thoroughly. I then added an equal amount of
coarse vermiculite and wet that down and mixed. Then I added 4 cubic
feet of compost, wet some more and mixed. I also added 1 cubic foot
of sand, but I am not sure that was necessary.

This is my first attempt at gardening, but this seemed to work quite
well for me. The only advise I can offer is to not try it on a windy
day and to wear a dust mask until everything is wetted down.

Good luck!
Bill
