Sounds familiar. We just moved to an old farmhouse with a garden area
which had been untilled for several years and is overrun with weeds.
Although I didn't go as far as to move the soil, my first priority was to
dig up the weeds, install compost bins and raised beds, and hang lights for
my seedlings. Needless to say, the wife wasn't very impressed. Up until a
week ago, we were still sleeping on a matress in the middle of the family
room floor surrounded by boxes. A few weekends of posturing and I've
finally settled her down...so it's back to the garden time!
