In the early spring they are used to provide extra protection to your young seedlings from cold and frost. They provide warmth to your seedlings. They are also used to protect certain plants from bugs which is what I am using them for. I am covering my Broccoli and Brussel sprouts to try to keep the bugs from them. This was recommended by several list members when I asked for help on raising brussel sprouts. Good luck with your new garden.
