For the last few years I have found that carrots seeds sprout better
if I presoak them in my normal seed sprouting jar. That is I soak
them in water over night, then keep them moist for three or four days.
(do not let them sprout in the jar) After that I mix them with dry
sand and spread them in my beds. It is still necessary to keep the
bed moist once the seeds have been planted. Pre-soaking results in
faster carrot seedlings and a more successful density of plants. I
also pre-soak Zinnia seeds. As another suggested, I throw in radish
seeds to mark the rows within the raised bed.
