Hi Ed I hope that you leave the plant intact for a while and watch what happens. It may develop another sucker. If so, this can be considered the new main stem. I have read that some growers intentionally alternate between pruning the main stem and using the highest sucker on the stem and continue this alternation throughout the life of the plant. I don't know the reason for this practice, but I understand that it works. It may be worth a try. You should not have to wait more than a few days to see if another sucker shows. Please keep us posted on the results.
