Help: Frost/Freeze Protection...

Howdy hi,

It's springtime in Nebraska and a cool one at that. A record low or
near-record low temperature (lower 30's) is predicted for tonight. I've got
many, many tomato, eggplant and pepper plants to protect from the
frost/freeze.

I'm very confused about using plastic as a protector. It is my belief that
it is okay--as long as the leaves don't touch the plastic. YET, I've heard
diametrically opposed views: it's okay; it's not okay.

Please, please, help me protect my plants. I don't have nearly enough old
linens/bath towels to protect them all. I can, however, easily cover them
with large garbage bags--all the while maintaining no leaf contact with the
plastic.

Also, I'm open to ANY other suggestions and help!

Thanks,

Dennis
