Subject: Re: No Till SQFT

Don't put grass clippings down green. Although, it probably wouldn't hurt on
seed beds that will take awhile to germinate. But green clippings can "burn"
plants. Or something like that. I haven't found the no till method to work
well for me. The best tip I can think of for sq ft gardening is get a piece
of paper and plan this all out first (and even with that I still get
confused) and start most of your stuff in the house or buy it at local
nurseries if you haven't time or inclination to start seeds yourself.
However, local nurseries don't carry things after that first spring rush.
If you want vegetables throughout the season, you will have to start them
yourself.

Then I guess the question now is:
When you want to plant something tiny like carrots, do you take off all
the mulch in the square or make little wells? Also I am going to use a
lot of grass clippings for my mulch, should I dry them out first or
since it will be added only one sq ft at a time can I just put it on
green?
