I set out 2 different types of tomato plants this year (ROMA UV) and cherry tomatoes. I plan to stake the ROMA plants by using three stakes (arranged in a triangle around each plant) and tying string every foot or so. This should provide a cone effect, like the expensive metal tomato cages. Has anyone tried this? Let me know what you think. This is the first time I have set out cherry tomatoes. Do they need to be staked or do they grow small enough so there is no need to worry? As I mentioned in a earlier posting, this is my first Sq. Ft. Garden and I am looking forward to a good year.
