Nasturtiums, tomatoes, carrots, etc.

To increase my odds of a decent harvest after this cold spring, I've
decided to re-plant some of my tomatoes and peppers in containers, where
I can move them indoors and out. My peppers are really suffering in
the ground! Need to know if the following can be planted next to each
other: nasturtiums, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, and peppers. I DO know
that "Carrots love tomatoes" but not sure about the rest. Also,
regarding gardening books -- just discovered that Brooklyn Botanical
Gardens publishes a nice low-cost series. I got a great book called
"Salad Gardens" for just $7.95 -- a vast improvement over the usual
price of gardening books. And it even has color photos. On a final
(humorous) note, while my toddler was "helping" me garden over the
weekend, the little munchkin decided to taste a few "crumbs" of dirt
that contained organic cow manure.... Moo.
