If you know the coldest temperature it gets in your region, you can easily
calculate your zone:

            Fahrenheit       Centigrade/Celsius
zone 1       below -50F         below -46C
zone 2     -50F to -40F       -46C to -40C
zone 3     -40F to -30F       -40C to -34C
zone 4     -30F to -20F       -34C to -29C
zone 5     -20F to -10F       -29C to -23C
zone 6     -10F to   0F       -23C to -18C
zone 7       0F to  10F       -18C to -12C
zone 8      10F to  20F       -12C to  -7C
zone 9      20F to  30F        -7C to  -1C
zone 10       above 30F          above -1C

If there's no zone 11, then i'm inventing one now:

zone 11       above 40F           above 4C
