Thanks for the reply Robert. The tomatoes have finally grown big
enough to twist tie them to the wire that I have strung as a home made
trellis. I'm starting to train them vertically and they have a lot more
support now. The peppers grew big enough to grow through the wire
cages which give them support from the wind. I gave up on using the
plastic because it kept blowing away and just tried to keep the seed
squares as moist as I could. So far things are looking good!

I hope I'm not responding to late for you. I too live in a very windy
place and was having the same problem. I finally ran twine from the
corners to some tent spike I had in my pathways, basically making mini
tents for my plants. I have 4'x4' cages and used 8 stakes, one on each
corner and one on each side. For comparison sake, the wind here has
been
know to get up to 40 MPH.
