Hi, I tried the Garlic-Jelepinio pepper spray but it did not work too
well. A bottle of Louisiana Hot sauce mixed with water did a good job.
About 1/4 cup of hot sauce to 1/2 gal of water worked for me. Also, the
ladybugs came and started eating the aphids [prayer worked here] :)
I believe the Ladybugs are responsible for eating the most aphids. In
fact, I saved my entire Ford Hook Lima Bean crop with their help.
Another thing I have noticed about aphids, the ants are the ones taking
care of them. If you watch them they will lead you to their nest.
Sometimes, the nest is under the plant.... Keeping it moist (sloshy) for
two days does a good job of running them off. If you keep bothering
them, they keep moving someplace else. I really haven't found anything
that will of itself deal with aphids. The ants do a good job of
replacing them. I have noticed one thing...... a border of lettuse will
usually keep the aphids busy enough to let everything else alone. Works
for me... :) have a good one.
