what mulch to use...

Good day everyone....

Well my garden here in South Carolina seems to be doing rather well, but 
I'm at an impasse as to what mulch to use.  As most of you know I'm new to 
gardening and I'm trying my best to grow a green thumb...

I'm currently growing tomatoes, bell peppers, crookneck summer squash, 
pumpkins, watermelons and cucumbers.  I know the common mulches seem to be 
straw and pine straw, but I figured the folks on this list might have other 
information.  By the way I do not really have any quality grass clippings 
to use.
