Well, I might as well chime in.
	My normal way or dealing with lettuce, carrots and such things is to mix a
1/4 teaspoon or so of seed with a couple cups of vermiculite then miosten
it thoroughly. The next morning I spread the vermicullite over a square,
and cover that with soil.
	Later I thin it to something like the proper spacing. Some waste I know,
but I got tired of partial squares of carrots.	
	Now if the cup thing will help me with the bugs....
