Compost & Racoons

Hi All~
 
     With all this wonderful adivice on making compost, I'm going to give it a
try.  One question..Does anyone have any problems with racoons or any animals
attracted to/bothering their pile?  I know you aren't supposed to add any
meat, etc. but I'm thinking of kitchen scraps in general.  I know they like
corn, but do they go for any of the other stuff? Or will being well mixed in
stop the problem?

     The reason I ask is a pair of racoons who give me nightly visits to
scrounge birdseed.  Help!
