Strawberries

Hi all,

I'm new to the list, but not to SF gardening.  I guess I've
been using this method for about 8 years.  Anyway, I have a
question I'm hoping someone can answer.

Last year I finally got strawberries to grow and flourish in
our zone 5 climate.  In fact they've spread all over and taken
over the whole 4'x8' bed, which is great.  I've just weeded out
the bed though and I'm wondering if I can mulch it to keep down
the weeds.  Do strawberries have anything against mulch?  Will it
keep them from spreading this summer?  I'd like for them to 
completely fill in the bed.
