RE: Mulching

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I use a lot of grass clippings. I usually either mix them with -dry- leaves
or let the clippings dry first. Too thick a layer of fresh grass clippings
can either spoil, causing your plants to rot, or heat up, burning the
garden, or layer so completely that water cannot penetrate. Drying first or
mixing with leaves will prevent all this.

If you get weeds from the grass clippings, cover them with grass clippings
and they will die. I try to keep about 4 inches of fresh mulch on top of my
decomposing mulch.
