Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi All,
Thanks to Doreen, Jim and the rest for suggestions concerning the
Stink Bugs. My dear hubby went out with me to pick the bugs off the
plants. We spread diatomacious earth at the base of the plants and
pruned them as well. Looks to me like they've got some kind of
disease on top of the bug attacks; some of the leaves are turning
yellow with black areas and some of the stems are rather limp. We've
had several days of overcast skies and rain. Hubby, ever the
optimist, says they'll be fine. But after 2 years of trying to grow
tomatoes here in North Florida, I'm ready to give up. It's
either all drought and killer sun, or heavy rain. Nothing in
between. And always the constant humidity.
On the up side, I just harvested my first small handful of bush
beans. Maybe I'll just raise beans, (sigh), but I detest those hard
orangey things they try to pass for tomatoes in the grocery stores.
(Well enough whining.)
Trudy
