Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Kitt,
I appreciate the information about the green/carbon ratios that you provided,
as well as those a couple of other people posted. I got to thinking it was
going to be hard to figure this out, because the leaves I was going to chop
with the mower were on top of grass that would get mixed in...and the grass I
was going to cut for the green part had leaves mixed around in it...so, I
just mowed over the leaves and filled the catcher, dumped it in the tumbler
and added a handful of compost starter and a couple handfuls of a chicken
litter/rice hull compost I have from a local grower, then repeated with the
grass and so on. Wet it down after each layer. I guess I got it at least
started right, because the compost thermometer is reading 105 degrees in the
center after only about 9 hours <g>.
