Hi Dick .. If you are zone 5 you probably get freezes as I do here in
Maryland in Zone 6/7.
        When I built my raised beds I put the planks on the ground and drove
stakes into the ground and nailed the planks to the stakes.
        And then the frost heaved up the stakes and raised the planks off the
ground! If I were doing it over again, I believe I would just set the
planks on the ground and rely on their weight to keep them there.
        You might want to check with a builder to see how deep the frost line
is in your area.
