Re: Fall-Planted Potatoes

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I am in zone 7 and I know that some people here have planted potatoes in
late fall with much success. We are planning to plant ours in December
this year. We got them out too late this past season because the ground
was too wet. Our yield was less than what we planted. So we want to try
planting in Dec. I am really interested in seeing what happens.

Has anyone in northern climates (Zone 4-7) planted potatoes in the fall and
gotten a spring harvest? I read somewhere that if you mulch heavily, you
can plant spuds in Nov. for an early crop. I did this in Texas (zone 9b)
last year and was successful. But....I'm wondering if it would really work
in the cold. So I'm looking for first-hand experience.
