Re: Fall-Planted Potatoes

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hello all,

I am new to square foot gardening, well, to gardening in general.
I hear you all talking about putting in potatoes this fall. Please tell
me what and how to do that. I would so like to have new potatoes to
cook come spring. I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico. About 45 minutes
northwest of El Paso, Texas. I am in a true zone 8. First frost at the
end of Oct/begining of Nov. Last Frost the end of March/the begining
of April. 20 degrees is about the coldest it gets here. And 110 about
the hottest. If this is something that will tie up the List, then
please email me with your advise. I want to know everything. Are there
other plants that do well if planted in the fall? What special needs do
they have? I have the book and It seems to be more for the advanced
grower. I'm a newbie.....:-)

Thanks for all the help you will be to me...

Debbie
