Re: Winter must be closing in

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I am surprised you like the smell of the cocoa mulch. My neighbors gag
every time I put out another layer. I like the smell too. Have you
noticed the snail trails come up to the mulch and then make a u turn? That
is really cool! They hate the stuff, because it has natural copper in it.

I just harvested some bush beans last night, and made an awesome salad from
the garden. The family thinks I am some wizard! I have never really grown
"real" food before. Just the tomatoes they take for granted.

I had to take out the Lakota Squash out yesterday . The vines were taking
over the entire garden, and not letting anything get any sun. I need to
follow the rules for sq. ft gardening more closely. I didn't take it to
heart, that you are supposed to allow for a 1' by 2' square. I really
needed to allow for a 2' by 4' sq. for this stuff. I will know for next
winter. It broke my heart to have to take out a perfectly wonderful plant
with tons of blossoms. But for the good of the rest of the garden, it had
to be sacrificed.

Live, read, and believe
Peg
