This is my first year SFG and the first time I've grown a variety of
herbs. My question is, can I take some out of the garden, plant in a
pot/planter and keep indoors over the winter? We've already had several
hard frosts but most of my herbs are still hanging in there, i.e.,
oregano, thyme, parsley, chives and mint. We've been blessed with
70-degree weather for the past few days (very uncharacteristic for this
time of year)!!

Hi Marlene,
We had a Basil bush and Parsley last year that was doing so well,we dug
them up and kept them inside all winter, then replanted in the spring. The
Basil lasted until summer (darn drought) and the Parsley finally gave out
this fall...well actually we moved and didn't bother to transplant it again.
We just mulched the Oregano and Thyme and they dozed all winter and quickly
took off in the spring. We just got nice sized pots) depends on the plant
size. added some good potting mix and carefully dug up the plant (keep a
nice sized root ball) water regularly and keep in a fairly sunny spot (we had
them in front of the patio window/door) We fertilized every month they were
in the pots too (good old regular plant food).
