Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html Most sweet corn types will do okay at 1/sqft. But with some of the larger types, if you plant too close the blades (leaves) may block the pollen from the silks. We are also seeing some problems this year where the pollen is spent before the silks are receptive to it but this is a problem due to the hot weather, not to sqft spacing. We also sometimes see problems where the plants at the upwind edges of the corn patch don't receive enough pollen. This might be more noticeable in a 4x4 than in a larger block. -Olin also sometimes at ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Slaughter, Midwest Engraving" <midwest@duo-county.com> To: "Square Foot Gardening List" <sqft@listbot.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2000 8:46 AM Subject: Corn pollination > Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html > > Just switching over from the BIG garden to SFG.
