I'm planting potatoes this week and have little mulch available except 20
sacks of pine needles scavanged from trash piles. The leaves won't be
falling off trees until Thanksgiving or after, and my compost pile is
exhausted. Since potatoes like their soil a bit on the acid side, would it
be ok if I mulched the potatoes with the pine needles? I was thinking about
burying the spuds in about three inches of soil and adding a foot or so of
pine needles.
Does anyone have experience with this???
