I enjoyed your post! (Joshua) Tho I have 150 acres to row crop or field plant, I still enjoy my little kitchen beds the most. I planted fig trees in 'islands' around the yard, and am moving outward from them with herbs and edible flowers. I find that pocket gardening techniques works best for me because I'm not so inclined to go crawl up on the tractor for a day of disking, as I am to sit on a wall, listen to music and weed a scraggly vegetable bed. We have a variety of native fruits here, and I'm preparing beds this fall to accept native persimmons and little plum trees. I plan to graft some other species onto those, in hopes the natural acclimation and self-dwarfing nature of our natives will cause the top growth to be more desirable in that manner. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone work with grafted grapes? martha *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe, send to: listserv@umslvma.umsl.edu the body message: unsubscribe sqft See http://www.umsl.edu/~silvest/garden/sqft.html for archive, FAQ and more.
