Little pumpkins--- say cantaloupe-sized or a teeny bit bigger-- yes, they
can be grown vertically on a trellis. But you'll have to get ones
described as having "compact growth" or they will vine all the way UP one
side of the trellis and DOWN the other, and then go on to mug your peppers.
Also: you'll have to use little "bags" (kind of like support underwear, if
I may be so bold) to tie the developing pumpkins to the trellis, so they
don't sag and pull the whole plant down with their weight.
