I have been using drip for over 5 years. I found that the starter kits
contain only in-line drippers. The alkali in my water soon plugs them and
renders them useless. The same thing occurred with weeper hose that I
tried. I have had very good success with pressure-compensating drippers.
I make up manifolds from tees and ells and 1/4 inch tubing for each of
various sqft planting patterns, using either one or two gallon per hour
drippers. I reuse these as units, where needed. I connected to a valve on
my lawn sprinkler timer and added a 20 psi pressure regulator with 1/2
inch tubing. The time spent to make changes for new plantings is minimal.
Unused barbs are plugged with a short tube and plug, until needed again.
