Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Vasha, I have an organic recipe for killing ants which is rather
expensive, but an alternate might be worth a try that someone posted
from Hong Kong. I recently purchased orange oil (very expensive) and
one Tablespoonful is to be added to one gallon of manure compost tea.
If one Tablespoonful of molasses is also added, it helps the "goody"
fungi, etc. in the soil after the ants are gone. The citrus oil must
be handled very carefully because at full strength it can even harm the
skin. The Chinese alternative is to place orange peelings around the
ant area. Either they die or else they move, I don't know which. I'd
think for the children's safety, that would be the first thing to try.
