Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
A few months ago the other members of the list were kind enough to give
me information on how to recover some tomato plants that were broken in
high winds. Because of the number of responses, I decided to run an
(unscientific) experiment. Some plants I broke off entirely and just
stuck in the ground, some were put in a bucket of water for 10 days, and
some I mounded up soil around the base. All of them were foliar fed
daily with a weak solution of Miracle Grow . The balance of the solution
was poured on the dirt. The final results: I didn't loose a single
tomato plant. They are all about six feet high and growing! All three
methods worked about equally, I can't distinguish any benefits between
one method or another.
I guess the bottom line is: when a tomato plant wants to root, not much
is going to stop it! They seem to have a strong survival instinct.
By the way, can anyone offer advice on preserving my non F1 seeds for
next year? Is there a good URL that someone could point me at?
Thanks in advance.
