I've seen them on grapes in California when I went to U.C. Davis.  We were
making wine samples from mechanically harvested grapes and found big fat
hornworms on some of the leaves that got in with the grapes.  'Chateux
Hawkmoth" might be the name of THAT vintage.  More "body" to the wine.
