These photos are really special. Thank you so much for sharing them
with us. It is interesting to see the iris blooming in their natural
habitat...especially pure arils. I really enjoyed them.

Hi all,
Those are the first photos from my present
trip to the Middle East. I found Iris kirkwoodii ssp. calcarea at its type
habitat near Qalaat Semaan (the ruins of the site of St.Simeon the Stylite)
near Aleppo in northern Syria. The species seems to be quite common around
there and is picked by the locals at some places.
The size of the
attached files is quite large (up to 160k per picture) in order to secure a
standard of quality and resolution.
There are more species photos to
follow...
