Donald,

Toughness like this doesn't suprise me. I've buried rhizomes under a
foot of grass cuttings only to see them grow their way out. I also
threw some unwanted historics into the woods uncovered last fall and
found them happily growing just yesterday.

It seems I'm better at killing them when I plant them properly, go
figure.
