Re: Seedling 23BT22

Bob, this year I too have an "ugly duckling" with the same coloring to it; had 14 buds per stalk; grew to be 49" inches tall; with elegant branching. !  It was almost as tall as I am. I didn't cross with it at all, but maybe I'll hold on to it and cross with it next year.................just to see if I get a swan too. It was too ugly to bother taking a photo of.  :-)

I have attached a photo of 99AD17 which I refer to as my Ugly Duckling in that cross.  The  reason I crossed Last Laugh to it was to capture the high bud count it had (17 to 18 buds per stem).  I didn't get the high bud count but I did get the SWAN.  Photo of Dutchman's Dream also.

The Photo of the following seedling was taken in California a couple of days ago on their Region 15 Spring Trek.  I had a few things growing there as one year plants.  My seedling 23BT22 won best seedling for Out of Region Iris.  First photo is of maiden bloom last year in my garden.  Second and third photos are of it growing in California for their trek.  It seems to have lost some if its Maiden bloom pinching and has a little bigger flower.  Enjoy!  The cross is 99AD17 (Conjuration X Sweet Musette) X Last Laugh.  99AD17 is a sib to Dutchman's Dream
