Here is the seedling C186B from the 2006
cross WISE X ELEGANT LASS
WISE is a tiny reblooming MDB from Tom Johnson. No
pollen bud a smashing good pod parent!
ELEGANT LASS is a rebloming tetraploid iris from
Vicki Craig. It was registered as a BB, even though it blooms with the IBs. (
something ought to be done for the categories in Medians, it's really turning
into an absurd game!)
Maiden bloom for this seedling, that is
absolutely up to my wildest expectations: tiny flowers, thin but strong stalks
(considering we've had rain and hail for the last 2 days), very low branching,
and many flowers!
It has reached 41cm so in an IB.
Now, let's hope it reblooms in a couple of months.
I'm quite optimistic that should be the case, there are 4 growths that look
they could already put up a stalk now!
The trick to make the old fashion shape of
the aphylla disapear is to cross them with very 'compact' irises, like most
Mid-america Garden's SDBs.
I'm over the moon!
