Correct it may be, but when I hear "best specimen" I'm expecting to see a plastic cup with someone's name written on it with marker pen.  --  Griff

Thanks, and yeah our members refer to the BSotS as the "Queen" too. In fact the velvet bag in which the trophy is stored is labeled Queen...

I grow Canyon Snow too, and it always has a great clump of flowers.

Very Nice, John.  Congratulations on your win.  I will never be able to show a PCI because they are very difficult to grow in the San Fernando Valley.  Only a very few members seem to accomplish that feat.  We did have a bouquet of Canyon Snow on the Membership table though.

Yes, that is the correct title and we do have it labeled as such at the show.  However the members of our club seem to like the idea of royal simplicity - THE Queen.   And we also, then, call the iris 'she' when referring to it.

Have a good day,

Jan

And actually Best Specimen of the Show is the correct title -

Not to take anything away from Jan's success, here is mine

Line Drawing PCI Ghio '09

The fun thing with PCIs is being able to win Best of Section, Best
Beardless, and Best Specimen of the Show all with the same iris. <grin>

I have to admit it is a lot easier to prep a PCI for the show bench
than a TB. In the time if takes me to prep a TB I can bet 4 or 5 PCIs
ready.
